Dear Friends,
Thank you! Because of your support, an overwhelming majority of the voters of Seattle said that they want to build upon the strong foundation we’ve built in this great city. They see the great opportunities now open to us. Sharon and I are most fortunate to have the support from such wonderful friends and family.
The next four years are going to see us remove barriers to achieving our potential in transportation, affordable housing and education.
We will improve our Transportation system, building light rail, a new streetcar and fixing our local streets and bridges, making it safer to walk and bicycle as alternatives to driving. Instead of a new freeway on our waterfront, we will have a solution that moves people, goods and services in a way that is good for our city, waterfront and our climate.
We will make Housing more affordable. People who work in Seattle should be able to afford to live in Seattle.
We must improve the quality of Education for all children in Seattle. The Seattle Public Schools must be the very best. We owe our children no less.
Just four years ago, we were still anxiously waiting to learn who our next Mayor would be. While less exciting, I’m grateful we’re in this position today. We need to get to work right away!
Again, you have my profound thanks and I’m looking forward to working with you for the next four years.
Best wishes,
GREG NICKELS
Mayor of Seattle
